Chinese people celebrate new year which based on luna calender. The new year day is on 18th of Febrary. A lot of people go back to their home and spend hoplidays with their family. (Children can get money from adults.)
Here in HK, they also celebrate the new year. But the idea is not familiar to the exchange students, resident union of my hostel had a new year party for the foreign students.
They got quiz,(if u get a correct answer,u can get a minibus coupon 10 "cents" discounted!!) buffet, and Chinese calligraphy. For most of the exchange students, it is new thing but not for the Japanese people. (Japanese elementary schools have calligraphy class!!)
Its been ages last time I have done that. I tried to write some words that related to the new year, like "happy new year!" "spring has come".
I wrote "Welcome spring" so that I can put it on the door of our room.
My character writing is pretty good,
unless I made an extra stroke for the "welcome" part.....
"Welcome" should be 迎
But the caharacter I wrote is like this....
Compare with Akiko's(right). Koari's(middle) is out of question.
Japanese people should be good at character writing, but I guess not me.... haha.
